How to Read a Kratom Label

A kratom label tells you what’s inside, if you know where to look.

This guide from Kratom Folk explains each number. It doesn’t give dosing advice.

Milligrams vs Percentages

Labels state strength in two ways. Some list milligrams, while others list a percentage of the product’s weight.

For example, 1.5% mitragynine in 1 gram of powder is about 15 mg. Then the math lets you compare formats.

Percentages also appear in state laws. For instance, several states cap 7-OH at 2% of total alkaloids.

Serving Size Isn’t the Same Everywhere

One brand’s serving might be half a bottle. Another’s might be the whole bottle, so compare per milligram.

A serving size is the maker’s label unit. It isn’t a dosing recommendation from us.

How the Kratom Label Links to the COA

The lot number is the bridge. Find it, then search it in our lab results library.

Next, compare the measured alkaloids with the label. They should sit close together.

Also, check that metals and microbes say “pass” or “ND”, meaning not detected.

Red Flags

  • No alkaloid content listed at all.
  • No lot number, or a lot number with no COA.
  • Claims about pain, anxiety, withdrawal or any illness.
  • Names like “pseudo”, “MGM” or unexplained alkaloid blends.

Price per Milligram

Divide the price by the total milligrams on the kratom label. As a result, you’ll see real value across brands.

For example, a $20 bottle with 200 mg costs 10 cents per mg.
